Race Across the World 2024: Winner Announced,
The 15,000km race across Eastern Asia has been won by one duo following a thrilling boat race to the finish.
1.Best friends Alfie and Owen emerged victorious from BBC One’s thrilling finish of Race Across the World, being the first team to reach the last checkpoint in Lombok and win the £20,000 prize.
2.The friends—who also happen to be the youngest winning team ever—were pronounced the winners of the 15,000km race across Eastern Asia following a suspenseful boat race to the finish.
3.They defeated a fiercely competitive mother and daughter team, Eugenie and Isabel, who ran a full eight minutes behind them despite giving it their all all the way to the finish.
Stephen and Viv, a husband and wife team, came in fourth, followed by Betty and James, a brother and sister team.
Alfie and Owen had a sprint finish down the beach and into the tropical waves, and when they opened the guest book, they saw that they had arrived first at the last checkpoint. The best friends cried out, “We’ve done it!” and gave each other huge hugs, filled with happiness.
Owen exclaimed with joy, “We came, and we saw, and we succeeded.”
“Best moment of our lives,” Alfie continued. Without a doubt. I find it unbelievable.
Eugenie declared, “We did it,” after they arrived on the beach in second place after just eight minutes. We’ve arrived rather close behind. We had always stated that we would prefer to lose to Alfie and Owen if we had to lose to anyone. “They’ve worked hard, so they deserve it too.”
The next day, Betty and James finished in third place, a full twenty-four hours and thirty-four minutes behind the champions. James stated: “We stated that finishing and coming in third rather than fourth is the goal, isn’t that right? That’s the bonus, isn’t it?”
Betty continued, “I believe that as a result of this experience, we’ve improved our communication skills and now have an additional support system if needed.
After finishing 30 hours and 20 minutes behind the race winners, Stephen and Viv commented, “Obviously, we’re disappointed that we didn’t win, but we’re really happy for the boys.” The greatest experience of our lives is coming to an end now!
In the last episode, Eugenie and Isabel were only 12 minutes ahead of Alfie and Owen when they started the final leg. They had more than 1,000 kilometers to travel before they could cross the finish line in Lombok, starting in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
Even though Alfie and Owen made up time over the leg, they encountered difficulties when they arrived in Bangsal, Lombok, and learned they needed to take a boat to the nearby island of Gili.
The four pairs have made the epic journey from the northernmost part of Japan to the finish line in the Indonesian island paradise of Lombok over the course of the eight-part series. They have traveled 15,000 km over 50 days, crossed six seas and eight borders, and been pushed to their limits both physically and emotionally. They have done this without the use of smartphones, internet access, or bank cards, and have only brought the cash equivalent of the airfare.
The teams will reunite for a touching reunion special following the conclusion of Race Across the World. The special will air at 10.40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, on BBC One, and will be accessible on BBC iPlayer right away.
